Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is busy in promoting her latest film Rowdy Rathore which will hit theatres on June 1. While talking to reporters the actress revealed that she liked Vidya Balan’s performance in The Dirty Picture but she is not sure if she too would be able to do such kind of film.

During an interview, Sonakshi said, “I think Vidya Balan is a fantastic actor. She is my favourite. The film has done really well. But I don’t know if I would be able to do such a role. I have certain inhibitions. I don’t think I have the guts that Vidya has. It takes guts to do a film like that.”

Recently it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor refused to do a film opposite Sonakshi, When asked, she said, “I won’t react to that. I haven’t heard it with my own ears. I don’t believe everything I read in the papers.”

Earlier Sonakshi has confessed that she would love to date actor Ranvir Singh but now she says that she would prefer dating a guy who is not an actor.

Well! All we can say that people change with time.

AmfAR – The American Foundation for AIDS Research, an NGO has invited Mallika Sherawa. AmfAR is dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment, education and advocacy.

The actress says, “It means a lot to me because my best friend has been living with HIV for the last 20 years. I’ve been following the work that AmfAR is doing and it’s really commendable. It will be great to attend the event and learn about new discoveries in the battle against this condition.”

Mallika will not only work there but also enjoy the festival, she reveals, “It’s a great chance to meet filmmakers from all around the world. Also, this year there’s so much Indian representation, with films like “Peddler” and “Miss Lovely” that will be screened. I am looking forward to watching some great movies.”

Mallika has already decided the dress and jewellery which she will wear at the Cannes.

Aamir talked about the concept of the show after the first episode was aired, he said, “The show is about introspecting ourselves. The evils of the society are created by none but us. The program is just to help all of us realise that these ills prevail only because we let them happen. It’s not like people from Japan or Korea are responsible for these dastardly acts, it’s all been created by people like us.”

The actor added, “We have to understand that the lady who is giving birth to a child is very special, we have to take extra care of her… and even more at this particular stage of her life. And it is really unfortunate that at time when the lady needs maximum love and protection, she’s been subjected to utter pain and a prejudice of insurmountable order. At a time when she is supposed to be treated as a queen, she is trashed like anything.”

People have given good response to Aamir’s TV show. Different matters will be shown in Satyamev Jayate’s upcoming episodes.

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh is sure that Vidya’s involvement in sanitation campaign will make an impact and it will be helpful in ending the open defecation.

After meeting with Rural Development Minister Ramesh, Vidya Balan said, “For an actor, what can be a better thing than doing a dirty picture on screen and off screen a clean picture. I think this role will work a lot because we are working on a national movement.”

When the actress was asked if people will like her role to end the problem of open defecation, Union Minister quipped, “This is a clean picture (for Vidya Balan).”

Talking about sanitation campaign, Vidya said, “I think it is a matter great honour for me, becoming the brand ambassador of sanitation campaign. It needs to become a national obsession. I am ready to (do it) in my capacity. I am convinced.”

Ramesh said Vidya Balan is actually the first brand ambassador of the Ministry. She will feature in ad campaigns to propagate construction and use of toilets,.

Union Minister Ramesh said, “She (Vidya Balan) has agreed to give her time for the campaign for two years. She will be fully involved in the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan–(the re-structured version of the Total Sanitation Campaign).”

He added, “Vidya’s involvement in the campaign will help make it a national obsession.”

Though India is a fastest developing country but people in India still practice open defecation.

Words of war started on twitter between Sonam and a follower when someone re-tweeted a sentence from Anil Kapoor’s interview which says – “star kids have to struggle more”.

To this a follower re-tweeted, “cos they generally have no talent,”
Speaking her mind, Sonam replied, “f**** off”

“@sonamakapoor Ah cool! We don’t mind abuses anyway as long as they don’t come in the form of bad films you sometimes star in. ,” tweeted @JayHind in reply to Sonam.

In one of the interviews Anil Kapoor has talked about star kids who struggles in Bollywood more because people expect more from them then a newcomer with no family background.

Anil has said, “It is a different kind of struggle that they have to do. Our struggle was different. Their struggle is that the expectations from them are more as they are celebrity kids. I feel their struggle is more than us.”

About Sonam’s Bollywood journey, he explained in interview, “I feel Sonam has had a fantastic journey. She did a lot of hard work. It is a different kind of struggle that they have to do. If they do something good, people still expect more. There is certain expectation from her as she is the child of a celebrity.”

He further said, “When she did Sawariya and Delhi 6 people started saying she should wear fashionable clothes, she is doing Behenji type of roles. She does not have that thing. So when she did Aisha they were like… do that kind (de-glamorised type) of a film. She has proved herself, from Sawariya till now.”

He added, “She has done de-glamorised roles in films like Mausam and others but people forget that and talk about her fashion. Fashion is also an art, you don’t have to look down upon it. It is a big business and there is more money in it than films.”

Praising Sonam, he said, “The way she chooses colours or pattern, there is a certain art in that, she has that sense inherently. You either have it or don’t. She is blessed with that talent, where she has great aesthetic sense, her grace, her beauty, the way she presents herself.”

Irrfan said, “I had been detained when I went for my Independent Spirit Award for “Namesake”. It can be very unnerving and humiliating. There are ways of checking a person’s credentials. And most importantly, how many times around does one answer the same question about one’s name, surname, father’s name etc. The way one is interrogated is very demeaning. They ask you to come to a room where you are not allowed to talk on the phone. They don’t even tell you how much time the interrogation procedure will take. Every time I go to the US, memories of this experience are always there.”

When Irrfan was asked if the incidents of racial profiling have become slow with the passing time or he thinks that the Americans are more paranoid than ever before? The actor replied, “I think, it’s just the same.”

The actor has been in the same situation which is being faced by SRK, is there any advice he would like to give to SRK? To this Irrfan replied, “He is an intelligent actor and knows how to handle the situation. He doesn’t need my advice on how to handle this. I must add that I understand how unnerving it can get when one is detained. Here, I must say that the media also doesn’t need to only highlight this issue. If one has to talk, one can also speak about their foreign policy and not just highlight this.”

In 2009 too Shah Rukh was detained at the airport. Though it was clear that he is an actor and going to Yale University to address the students but they detained him and it seems they did it because of his surname.

Ambanis’ daughter Isha studies at the same university, where Shah Rukh was invited to talk to the students.

While addressing the student, SRK talked about his detention, “We were detained at the airport as always. For one and a half hours. It was nice. Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I take a trip to America.”

It is reported that university officials contacted Immigration and Customs Department at Washington when they knew that SRK is detained at the airport.

Though SRK talked about it jokingly but he would have definitely not liked the whole incident.

Indian government too have reacted strongly about SRK’s detention and the US embassy in New Delhi have apologised about it.

While talking to reporters, Biapasha said, “If I meet someone at a function, I do say hello. I am cordial to all. However, I can’t pick up the phone next morning and propose to plan a film together. A lot of this is also due to the fact that no one is my buddy in Bollywood. I know that for some out there this does count. Nothing wrong with that but then that’s just not me.”

She added, “On my speed dial, there is no one from the industry. When a role is offered and it is good enough then I do that. Otherwise I wait for the next right opportunity.”

When she was asked if she would lose some movies because of competition in Bollywood, Bipasha replied, “Possibly, but then as I said, it’s a conscious call. I haven’t created such equations because I am not comfortable doing that. I can’t see myself saying that ‘Hey, we are friends so give me a role in your film.’

The actress adds, “I am friends with people around me but not friendly enough to start bargaining with them or emotionally blackmail them. Ultimately it’s a good film that counts and when that comes to me, I give it a go ahead. It is as simple as that.”

Bipasha’s last released Players and Jodi Breakers didn’t do well at the box office.
But the actress defends Jodi Breakers’ director Ashwini Chaudhary by saying, “I trusted Ashwini’s sensibilities when I met him. As for critical acclaim and commercial gains, it is futile to discuss that. Sometimes really bad films get a lot of critical acclaim while really good films are not watched by many. It is sheer bad luck that results in the downfall of certain films.”

Though multi-starrer Players was well promoted but still that couldn’t manage to bring audience to theatres. “Everyone knows that it was a very expensive film to pull through. As much as we would have wanted, it would have been difficult to recover the costs involved. Also the timing of the film went wrong. We may have had a fair chance if we would have come at some other time. Reality is that it didn’t do well so no excuses there.

“It is impractical to release a film immediately after the New Years weekend. People get back to work after an extended holiday season and can’t be expected to step into theatres soon enough,” said Bipasha.

Though both of Bipasha’s films did not succeed at the box office but she managed to get some benefits from them. Bipasha explained, “I managed to step into a different zone with Jodi Breakers and audience saw a different side of my persona there. On the other hand in case of Players when people were so harsh on the film as well as other people involved, I got some good reviews. That was heartening enough.”

Walk of Stars was inaugurated at the Bandra Bandstand Promenade; Kareena along with her father Randhir Kapoor unveiled the statue of Raj Kapoor here. The actress said, “I am short of words, what more would I ask for. My father and my grandfather had made me who I am. Which girl has got this opportunity guys.”

Madhur Bhandarkar who is directing Kareena in Heroine joined her in unveiling the signatures of her great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor etc. He said, “Kapoors have acting in their veins and blood. I am looking forward to walk down a memory lane. What better gift than this to the 100 years of Indian cinema.”

Madhur added: “The way Hollywood has its Walk of Fame even the Hindi film industry now has its Walk of Stars.”

Kareena got clicked while sitting in the lap of the statue of her grandfather and said, “This is the only lap that Saif would allow me to sit on.”
